Just back from the field to write this as it is super busy at the moment, and I've managed to fall behind schedule!

I've got green sprouting broccoli, purple sprouting broccoli and cabbage that all should have been transplanted last week and they are still in the polytunnel. An extra effort needed over the next couple of days!

I did manage to get 4 beds of potatoes planted this week though. This is one of the maincrops just about to be covered with the head about 5cm below the surface in the lovely top layer of compost

I did have some "help" from my 24 year old middle daughter over the weekend. I really appreciated the company, but suffice to say that I'm so relieved that she is doing well in her own career as a bio statistician!! šŸ˜‰

My other helper, Koda, tends to be with me most of the time. He is incredibly lucky to have a two and a half acre plot where he can roam. So why on earth does he have to choose the first carrot bed for an afternoon nap!!

Talking of carrots, lets start with them to update on the vegetable status. They were directly sown and are now starting to germinate!

I mentioned savoy cabbage a couple of weeks ago. They still haven't formed a large head, and I'm worried that they may instead go to seed. They are looking great, and I have decided to sell them under the definition of leaves, so will charge a lesser price for them so that they can be enjoyed rather than risk them going to waste. They are available now on the website!

Spinach and Chard also available and doing nicely

The majority of the cauliflowers that we overwintered have been sold. We have just a couple left so I have decided to sell them as florets to give more people the chance to enjoy the last few

Of the recent plantings, lettuce are doing well

As are the radish

Beetroot clumps have just been transplanted this week

I sowed both dwarf french beans and runner beans on Easter Sunday, 8 days ago. The first french bean has just appeared

But look at these runner beans!

This week, I will be sowing climbing beans, leeks, courgettes, squash, and more chard and spinach

We're getting there!!
