Cauliflower - Notice how the inner leaves naturally curl inwards to protect the head from frost

Cauliflower seeds - sowed 1st Feb

Onion sets

Tomatoes - Traditionally tomatoes are sown from early March, but this variety states it can be sown from Christmas onwards, so I thought why not give them a try!

Red Cabbage

Savoy Cabbage

Cavolo Nero - won't be long!

Purple sprouting - nearly there!

Update
· Overwintering vegetables are doing very well. The majority are covered with netting to keep the pesky pheasants away. So far so good!
· We need some sunshine, there has been too much rain lately, although the field drains beautifully!
· Hopefully with a bit of sun we will be on track to reinstate our vegetable offering in early March
· In the meantime, the nutrient rich microgreens are proving to be very popular with our healthy locals
· Microgreens were not however popular at Brighton Open Market at the weekend. We gave the market a try for the first time and our stall was right opposite the fry up cafe. Suffice to say we will try a different location next time!!
· The cauliflower and tomato seedings are the first sowings of the year, with Radish due to be added this week
· Focus for the week is to clear and tidy existing beds
